Benefits of Intestinal Ultrasound

Considered the future of IBD monitoring, intestinal ultrasound is a novel, noninvasive technology that offers highly accurate images of the bowel without any special preparation. As part of the follow-up for patients with diseases such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, ultrasound plays an important role in the patients’ treatment pathway as it can decrease the need for repeated CT or MR imaging of the abdomen. These gastrointestinal diseases can be monitored closely with ultrasound, as these patients typically need close monitoring and follow up. Ultrasound is a monitoring tool capable of visualizing precise inflammation or healing for patients down to the individual bowel wall layers. Using a cost-effective, non-invasive imaging method with no radiological hazard is greatly beneficial to the patients. The exam and results can help guide the multidisciplinary team to a more personalized treatment plan and lead to better patient outcomes.

Clinician benefits:

  • Enhances shared understanding and treatment decisions between patients and providers
  • Non-invasive, accurate IBD activity assessment
  • Real-time, point-of-care results
  • Diagnostic aid
  • Multi-Center research

Patient benefits:

  • No bowel preparation
  • No lengthy pre-authorization
  • Tight control monitor of treatment response
  • Use in pregnant IBD patients, children and elderly who may not be able to undergo colonoscopy or MRI
  • No radiation

“Partnering with the team at Samsung as a KOL has been nothing short of life changing. We are trailblazing a new field, using gastrointestinal ultrasound, and together, we are directly changing care in the United States.”

Sophisticated 2D & Color Image Processing

S-Shearwave Imaging™ - allows for the non-invasive assessment of the stiffness of the layers of the bowel. Color-coded elastogram, quantitative measurements, dual or single display option, and user-selectable ROI functions are useful for more confident assessment of inflammatory processes.

HQ-Vision™ - compensates for the natural signal distortion as sound propagates through tissue to display maximum pixel sharpness.

S-Harmonic™ - reduces signal noise, enhances contrast, and provides uniform image performance of overall image area from near-to-far.

S-Flow™ - a highly sensitive directional Power Doppler excellent for assessment of slow blood flow.

ClearVision - is a proprietary noise reduction filter that improves interface definition and creates sharper 2D images for optimal diagnostic performance.

PureVision™ - an image processing function that outputs with a good uniformity and clear image by performing speckle noise suppression and edge enhancement on B-mode.
