Samsung Furthers Ability to Serve American Active Service Members and Veterans
Samsung ultrasound and digital radiography devices secure additional designations, adding to a growing list of state-of-the-art imaging solutions that may be used by the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs
Danvers, Massachusetts – April 12, 2023 – Boston Imaging today announced that it received the US Defense Health Agency’s Authority to Operate (ATO) designation based on the Risk Management Framework (RMF) for three Samsung ultrasound systems – HM70 EVO, HS60 and the V8. The ATO designation increases the ability of the Department of Defense (DoD) to use Samsung's ultrasound systems in Medical Treatment Facilities (MTF) worldwide.
The ATO designation was previously received for the RS85 Prestige ultrasound system and G-Series digital radiography platform technology. In addition, the Samsung portfolio of digital radiography and ultrasound devices have successfully completed testing to provide Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) functionality needed by the Department of Veterans Affairs and DoD.
"By completing the necessary cybersecurity and compliance testing on our portfolio of Samsung medical devices, we’re able to offer MTFs more choices when caring for military service members, retirees, and their family members,” said David Legg, Vice President of Ultrasound and Digital Radiography and Head of Boston Imaging. “Samsung is focused on delivering lifelong healthcare solutions using the company’s excellent image quality, ergonomics and artificial intelligence assisted software, which assists clinicians in diagnosing and developing optimal treatment paths for our patient population.”
To further position the company as a leader in the government space, Boston Imaging recently hired Jason Blythe as the new Director of Government Accounts, who comes to the company with 14 years of service in the US Army and 20 years of experience in the federal healthcare sector. “I’m thrilled to help assist in relations with government sites nationwide so we can better partner and provide the best-in-class Samsung technology that fits specific needs and requirements,” said Jason Blythe, Director of Government Accounts, Boston Imaging.
Samsung strictly adheres to the DoD’s critical cybersecurity requirements for medical equipment to interface with its network. As a part of our cybersecurity program, the company strives to abide by the CIA triad (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability) and takes a comprehensive approach to ensuring protection with the following pillars: intrusion prevention, access control and data protection.
